Galician cooperativism day will be held the first Saturday of the month of July, coinciding with the International Day. The celebration this year is part of the central events of the International Year dedicated to give value to this business formula.      

 

Its celebration, the 7th of July in the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions in Santiago de Compostela, will mark the end of these days where it will be clear that Galicia, day by day is joining cooperativism.

 

On this day, where members of cooperatives from the whole of Galicia are called to participate; the awards for cooperation will be given out in its eleventh edition.
These awards aim to promote and disseminate the cooperativism, its principles and values, and publicly reward work that cooperativists, cooperatives and other institutions and individuals have been performing in favor of the development of cooperative movement in Galicia.
The prizes are awarded for achieving a prominent role in the field of cooperativism and have the different categories:

 

•Award to cooperative values: to that cooperative, entity or person who has the most prominent role in the in the promotion of cooperative values.
• Award to the best cooperative project: for the cooperative business project of special interest.
•Award to the promotion of cooperativism: to the person or entity that has been specifically important in the promotion of cooperativism.

 

The prizes of the contest “cooperativism in education " will also be awarded, aimed at publicizing and promoting the cooperativism among the students of nurseries, primary, secondary school and vocational education in Galicia, promoting and fostering the values ​​and principles that inspire it, such as: solidarity, democratic spirit, participation, collective action or the solution of conflicts reaching agreements. The day will end with the traditional cooperative games.
